1. Summary

StopWastingTime is a local-first productivity app. Your goals, habits, notes, and blocked-app settings are stored only on your device. We do not operate any account system or server database, so we never receive that content. The app uses a small number of third-party SDKs for crash reporting, anonymous usage analytics, subscriptions, and push notifications, described below.

2. Data stored only on your device (we never receive it)

The following is kept locally (in the app's private database and preferences) and is not transmitted to us:

  • Goals, habits, check-ins, notes (including any images you attach) and milestones.
  • Your list of blocked apps and Pomodoro / focus settings.
  • Your activity history: focus/Pomodoro sessions, blocks recorded by the blocker, goal-progress history, challenges you joined and achievements you unlocked.
  • App preferences (theme, quiet hours, etc.).
  • A randomly generated anonymous local ID (a UUID) used to organize your data on the device. It is not linked to your name, email, or any account.

If you add the optional home-screen widget, it reads this same on-device data to display your streak and today's habit names on your home screen. Nothing leaves the device, but be aware that habit names then appear outside the app, visible to anyone who can see your screen. Remove the widget if you would rather they didn't.

You can export a backup of this data to a destination you choose (e.g. your cloud drive) using the in-app backup feature. That backup is handled by your device's system file picker; we do not have access to it.

Android may also include this on-device data in your device's own backup (Android Auto Backup) and in device-to-device transfers. That copy is stored under your Google account, encrypted by Google, governed by your Android backup settings — it goes to your account, never to us, and you can turn it off in your device's backup settings.

3. Data processed by third-party services

To run the app we use the following processors. Each receives only what is needed for its function:

ServicePurposeData involved
Google Play Billing (managed via RevenueCat)Process and validate subscriptionsPurchase/subscription status, a pseudonymous app user ID, country, device/store info
Firebase Crashlytics (Google)Diagnose crashes and stabilityCrash stack traces, device model, OS version, pseudonymous identifiers
Firebase Analytics (Google) and PostHog (EU-hosted)Anonymous product analytics to improve the appApp/screen usage events, feature interactions, coarse device info, a pseudonymous identifier. PostHog data is processed on EU servers.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google)Deliver push/reminder notificationsA device push token
Google Play In-App Review / In-App Updates (Google)Ask for a review inside the app, and offer app updates without leaving itApp version, whether an update is available; the review itself is submitted to Google Play, not to us

We do not sell your data and do not use it for third-party advertising. We have no advertising SDK.

4. Accessibility Service — important disclosure

The optional app-blocking feature uses Android's Accessibility Service. We want to be explicit about how it is used:

  • It is used solely to detect the package name of the app currently in the foreground, so we can show the blocking screen for apps you chose to block.
  • It is configured with canRetrieveWindowContent="false": it does not read screen content, does not capture text or keystrokes, and does not take screenshots.
  • This information is processed on-device in real time and is never stored, logged, or transmitted off your device.
  • The feature is entirely optional and only active while you enable blocking.

We also use the Usage Access permission (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) only to support blocking and focus features, on-device.

5. Permissions we request

INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, POST_NOTIFICATIONS (reminders), SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM (timely reminders), FOREGROUND_SERVICE and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE (Pomodoro timer), RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED (re-arm reminders after reboot), VIBRATE, WAKE_LOCK, plus the Accessibility and Usage Access permissions described in §4 (optional, for blocking).

We deliberately do not request USE_EXACT_ALARM (Google restricts it to alarm-clock and calendar apps, which this is not), and we actively remove the advertising-ID permissions that the analytics SDK would otherwise add by default (AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION).

6. Children

StopWastingTime is not directed to children under the age required by your local law (e.g. 13 in the US, 16 in parts of the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Data retention and deletion

  • On-device data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
  • Analytics / crash data is retained per each provider's policy. You can request deletion by contacting us at eus.deve@gmail.com; because we have no account linking you to that data, please include any identifiers shown in the app's settings if available.
  • Subscription data is governed by Google Play and RevenueCat.

8. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. GDPR/UK GDPR, CCPA) you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data. Since the app holds your content only on your device, you control most of it directly (in-app edit/delete, export, uninstall). For data held by the processors above, contact us and we will help route the request.

9. International transfers

Some processors (Google) may process data outside your country under appropriate safeguards. PostHog analytics is hosted in the EU.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
